Hilton Darwin’s signature restaurant, PepperBerry, has won the Restaurant in a Hotel/Resort award at the 2022 North Queensland & Northern Territory Restaurant & Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence.

The Awards for Excellence is a nationally recognised, independently judged awards programme that celebrates exceptional service and culinary talent across the state. It s the only programme in Australia where the judging criteria are determined by consumers who rank what is important to them in the dining experience.

According to Markus Kaliss, general manager, Hilton Darwin, they are very proud to see PepperBerry Restaurant win the Best Restaurant in a Hotel award locally and nationally.

“It is a proud moment for the team. We have all worked so hard to get where we are and couldn’t have achieved this accolade without their passion and dedication,” added Fiona Weir, executive chef, PepperBerry Restaurant.

The restaurant most recently won the 2022 Gold Plate Awards for Best Hotel Restaurant in the NT and is currently ranked the #1 Restaurant in Darwin on Tripadvisor based on countless positive reviews from Tripadvisor users.

Over 60 local restaurants, cafés and catering businesses came together to celebrate the achievements of their peers who were judged in more than 15 categories, with the winners announced at the Awards for Excellence ceremony.

The Awards are judged by an independent team of trained judges who secretly visit the venues to determine the restaurant/café winners. Scores reflect the entire dining experience, from food to customer service.

To determine the category winners, caterers are assessed on all aspects of their business, including operations, food, service, staffing, and event/site outcomes.

Belinda Clarke, CEO, R&CA, said, “PepperBerry Restaurant should be immensely proud of this win. The past two years have been incredibly tough for the entire hospitality industry in Australia, but success stories like this show how far hard work can take you. With the right mix of staff, products, produce and service, the results can be extraordinary.”
